BESA offers you a range of publications covering technical specifications, contract legislation, health and safety guidance, commercial performance standards, training resources, and employment guides; everything a company needs to run successfully.

In addition to the range of printed and electronic documents, one of the key resources available is SFG20 – the industry standard for planned maintenance. BESA owns and updates the standard which is increasingly being used as a tendering and auditing resource. Available as an online subscription, BESA members receive substantial discounts on the licensing fee. To find out more, visit the SFG20 website.
From 4 July 2009, all companies that install, maintain or service stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and/or heat pump equipment containing (or designed to contain) F gas refrigerants are legally required to obtain an F Gas Company Certificate.
Refcom, as a BESA subsidiary is the leading certification body, with 88% of total registrations (figures released by DEFRA as at Jan 2014).
Refcom can point you in the direction of relevant training courses, in conjunction with BESA Training. You can find out what qualifications you need for F gas certification on the Refcom website.
You may also be interested in Refcom Elite, which is free to BESA members and promotes best practice in refrigerant management. As a voluntary scheme, Refcom Elite is a set of high professional standards recognised by the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Board (ACRIB) and the RAC industry.
In addition to the standard annual audit, through its subsidiary company BESCA, the BESA is also able to offer members access to a Competent Person Scheme to assess, certify and register the competence of contractors and individuals engaged in the building engineering services industry. All are offered at significantly discounted rates to BESA members.
Many construction and site managers request that their workers hold a SKILLcard before coming on site. Engineering Services SKILLcard is the industry-recognised card issuing and personnel registration scheme for people working in the mechanical sector of the building services engineering industry throughout the UK. As the first of the affiliate of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) to roll out smartcards, accessing construction sites and demonstrating your skills, competence and qualifications has never been easier.
