BESA in Partnership with the BMTFA, has launched the first ever pipework selection tool app!

The BESA Pipe Plus app covers all aspects of pipework specification for construction and building engineering projects including guidance on all relevant materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper, and the appropriate jointing options, as a function of temperature and pressure.

Chair: Graeme Fox, Head of Technical, BESA

Graeme is a chartered engineer with over 30 years’ experience of building services engineering. He has particular expertise in air conditioning, heat pumps, and small commercial refrigeration. He ran his own refrigeration and air conditioning contracting business for more than 25 years specialising in air conditioning design, installation and troubleshooting.
He is a former President of AREA – the European association of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump contractors – and previously served as a member of BESA Council. He is also currently a Director of ACRIB and of the Institute of Refrigeration.

Speaker: Chris Owen, Technical Chair, BMTFAl

Chair of the BMTFA Technical Committee, member of the BESA Affiliates Committee and Pipework Working Group, and project lead at BISPA. Chris proactively promotes the benefits of carbon steel pipework and product specification awareness within building services.


Panellist: Will Pitt, Technical Leader at Laing O'Rourke | Chair - BESA Technical Committee 

Will is a Chartered Engineer, technical leader and CIBSE Fellow with 25 years’ experience in building services engineering design and construction. Having worked for consulting engineers and contractors, he has a broad understanding of the construction process from concept design through to commissioning and operation. 

In his previous role as Divisional Mechanical Engineering Manager at National MEP specialist NG Bailey, Will was instrumental in developing and rolling out a companywide initiative to improve all aspects of quality in MEP services design and installation.
