The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) is the UK's leading trade organisation for building engineering services contractors – representing the interests of firms active in the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, control and management of engineering systems and services in buildings that provides services to and represents the interests of 1,200 organisations.

BESA has a proud heritage, having been established in 1904 as the National Association of Master Heating and Domestic Engineers. Our headquarters are in London, but we are active throughout the UK. We have a separate presence in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as eight regional offices across England. This regional presence facilitates member networking and sharing of best practice, business opportunities and advice on local and national developments.

THE IT department

The IT Department provides bespoke solutions and support to the BESA Group and to their external customers.

The range of solutions and infrastructure cover:

  • On-premise solutions and inter-site networking and telephony
  • Office365
  • Microsoft Azure

THE ROLE OF THE IT infrastructure engineer

In this role, you will be providing 2nd/3rd tier support for end users, as well as supporting the existing infrastructure, implementing necessary changes and monitoring the IT environment.


Using Microsoft System Centre to monitor, maintain, operate and support the infrastructure (switches, servers, desktop, desktop and server applications, virtual storage and virtual networking).

Creating and maintaining server, desktop and application images, deployments and task sequences.

Contributing to infrastructure change projects through a detailed knowledge of Windows Server, Hyper-V, active directory and windows server applications.



A detailed understanding and experience of:

Windows Server, Active Directory and virtualization in a Microsoft environment

Networking in a Microsoft environment


Knowledge or experience of:

Enterprise Wi-Fi solutions

Enterprise security solutions

Microsoft Intune or similar MDM product

Microsoft System Center Products

Exchange Server

Skype For Business Office 365 Management and Administration

Microsoft Azure

Microsoft Certified Professional certification
