Who is the course for and what does it cover?

This improved course is suitable for everyone working in the building engineering services industry, technical or non-technical. There are no pre-requisites required to register for this introductory course.

The course provides an introduction to Heat Networks, covering the following seven areas:

  1. Basic principles and key components of a Heat Network
  2. Diversified loads
  3. Evolution and differences between 3GDH, 4GDH and 5GDH heat networks
  4. Thermostatic and electronic Heat Interface Units (HIUs)
  5. Components found in an HIU and explanation of their function
  6. Importance of water treatment in Heat Networks
  7. Basics of thermal insulation specification for secondary systems

This course is ideal for qualified heating, plumbing, and RAC engineers with one of the following: 

  • Blue/Gold SKILLcard 
  • City and Guilds, NVQ, or T-Level in heating and plumbing 
  • Oftec Registration 
  • Gas Safe Registration 
  • Unvented Cylinder/Hot Water Systems Qualification

Online Theory: Complete eight self-paced modules covering:

  8. Fault finding 
 
One-Day Practical: Engage in hands-on training at one of four training centres across the UK. Dates and locations available:

  • Dartford - 28 February
  • Warwick - 20 February
  • Dartford - 3 March
  • Warrington - 6 March
  • Warwick - 6 March

*Important: a £50 deposit will be required to secure your fully funded training. This will be refunded on completion of the course.
