On 1 May 1998, Part II of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 came into force in England and Wales. This legislation fundamentally affects cash-flow and the resolution of disputes, and will undoubtedly apply to most, if not all, contracts operated by firms active in the building engineering services sector. On 1 October 2011, Part II of the Housing Grants, Construction & Regeneration Act 1996 will be amended in England and Wales by the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 (Part 8).
