This guide is to help BESA to identify how to avoid conflicts of interest and how to act appropriately if one does develop.
This Guide sets out the legal background, outlines the conflict of interests’ policy and includes two forms; a declaration of interests and a register of conflict of interests. BESA has introduced a constitutional duty to guard against conflicts of interest (the ‘Duty’) and a code of conduct (the ‘Code’) for all members. This guidance outlines the procedure for identifying conflicts, for withdrawing from discussions if a conflict arises and for recording this process on a register of conflicts.
