The Advisory Board are responsible for identifying themes and speakers and work alongside the the BESA event team to help shape the this years conference programme.

Nathan Wood, Chair of BESA's Health and Wellbeing Group and MD at Farmwood 

Nathan Wood is Managing Director of Farmwood M&E Ltd, Chairman of the BESA Health and Well-being in Buildings Group as well as Chair of the GCP Europe Indoor Environmental Quality Task Force. 

Nathan has wealth of knowledge across the building engineering sector, particularly ventilation & air quality, an advocate of clean air technology and straight talking

Kevin Morrisey, Engineering Manager, HE Simm

Kevin is a member of The BESA Technical Committee and has over 30 years’ experience of the building services engineering sector, working in operational, design and technical roles for several leading MEP contractors. His role at HE Simm is focussed on promoting engineering excellence at all stages of their projects.  

Chris Stevens, Project Design Manager, Quintex Systems

Chris has a keen eye for energy saving innovation in the commercial kitchen space and champions making the commercial kitchen a more sustainable environment utilising smart, intelligent technologies.

Chris has panelled before talking about implementing energy efficiency into hotel kitchen design so that one day every future project can contribute to being a Net Zero Carbon operation.

 

Graeme Fox, Head of Technical, BESA

Graeme is a chartered engineer with over 30 years’ experience of building services engineering.  He has particular expertise in air conditioning, heat pumps, and small commercial refrigeration. He ran his own refrigeration and air conditioning contracting business for more than 25 years. He is a former President of AREA – the European association of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump contractors – and previously served as a member of BESA Council.

Claire Curran, Managing Director, Linaker and Vice President, BESA

As BESAs Vice President Claire is passionate about the industry as a whole with a particular fondness of the education and technical committees; keen to aid in shaping our industries technical standards and supporting engineers careers.

Day to day as Managing Director of Linaker a national specialist building services partner with over 29 years experience Claire has seen the business treble in size and achieved the accolade of on the top 5 fastest growing businesses in sector in 2020. Claire's love of team shines through

Robert McNamara, Director, Capitec Limited

Robert is a trusted advisor to many large public sector clients (from NHS Trust’s through to central government and Higher Education establishments). In 2007 he co-founded Capitec Ltd to focus specifically on supporting PFI Estates and their complex contract/compliance management needs. Over the last decade Capitec has gained an enviable reputation for honesty of approach and for working in partnership with the FM industry, to achieve effective and lasting compliance standards.

 

Mark Batchelor, Associate Engineering Director, Capitec 

Mark’s background in aerospace engineering and gas turbine maintenance has brought innumerable benefits to our business and the products we have developed in support of our clients over the last fifteen years. 

Capitec supported the migration an Acute Healthcare’s PFI scheme’s maintenance tasking processes into a fully digital domain/ handheld technology-based solution, well before this became more widely established good industry practice.  

Ewen Rose, Marketing and Commination's Consultant, BESA

Ewen has previously edited Heating and Air Conditioning Journal and was editor in chief of H&V News. He founded McGowen Rose Associates in 1999 as a provider of specialist marketing and communications in the building services engineering sector.

Ewen is also secretary of BESA’s Health & Well-being in Buildings group. He is also the chair of the CIBSE Young Engineers’ Awards; a former vice chair of the CIBSE Patrons and the CIBSE/ASHRAE Group. He is also a trustee of the AG Manly charitable trust.

 

Will Pitt BEng (Hons) CEng FCIBSE, Technical Leader – MEICA Systems, Laing O’Rourke Europe

Will is a Chartered Engineer, technical leader and CIBSE Fellow with 25 years’ experience in building services engineering design and construction. 

In his current role as Divisional Mechanical Engineering Manager at National MEP specialist NG Bailey, Will has be instrumental in developing and rolling out a companywide initiative to improve all aspects of quality in MEP services design and installation.

 

Lucy Sherburn, Consulting Engineer, FairHeat

Lucy Sherburn is a Graduate Engineer at FairHeat, joining after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering with a Year Abroad. As a Graduate Engineer her role involves working on the design and operation of new build heat networks, to deliver cost and energy saving improvements. Lucy is shortlisted for the CIBSE ASHRAE graduate of the year 2021 award and is a committee member for CIBSE YEPG.
