Entry Requirements

For this role the candidate needs to have achieved grades A*- C (9-4) in Maths and English.

Applicants are also required to complete BESA Training's online application and assessment. Applicants who do not complete the assessment will not be considered for the role.


A vacancy has arisen for Service and Maintenance Engineer, develop specialist skills to enable them to maintain building services systems and their component parts. They diagnose, and rectify faults in a variety of systems, which include offices, schools, factories, banks, hospitals shops, retail developments. Whilst undertaking a job they have to be able to identify the fault within the system, diagnose and fix the fault. This may include working on a variety of systems e.g. pipework, gas, electrical and air conditioning. Therefore the apprentice will undertake training in a wide variety of areas A service and maintenance engineer may work on a large static site, or be mobile in a van, this involves travelling from job to job which may be all over the country, with several jobs being undertaken in one day. A service and maintenance engineer when qualified may be involved in 24 hour call out – when a system is not working whatever time of day then an engineer will need to respond to the call out, and, ensure the system is back working as quickly as possible.
