Entry Requirements

Applicants must have sat and passed the relevant industry approved assessment – BESA (in Scotland) and also requires applicants to have achieved a National 5 or GSCE in Maths, English, Physics and a technical subject as a minimum.

Details

The work of a Heating and Ventilation Engineer is varied and can include the following:

  • Installing boilers, tanks, pipework, pumps and controls according to plans
  • Using bending machines to shape large pipes
  • Using flame cutting equipment to cut pipes to size
  • Joining pipes by soldering or oxy-acetylene and metal arc-welding
  • Testing that the system is operating properly
  • Checking equipment for leaks, pinpointing and repairing faults
