JOB ROLE/DESCRIPTION

This modern apprenticeship covers all areas of domestic gas installation and maintenance on a range of appliances including; fires, cookers, meters, water heaters and central heating systems.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Apprentices must be an employee of a company in the domestic gas industry, as on site training and assessment are required as part of the course.

WHAT WILL THE course cover?

  • Design natural gas systems
  • Specific programmes for working on natural gas systems
  • Plan the work activities for natural gas systems and components
  • Install service and maintain complex natural gas systems and components
  • Commission and decommission natural gas systems
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all natural gas related work
  • Establish, maintain and develop effective working relationships with others
  • Contribute to the improvement of business products and services for natural gas related work
  • Apply gas safety measures to domestic natural gas related work activities.

WHAT IS A modern APPRENTICESHIP?

A modern apprenticeship is a real job with training, enabling you to earn whilst you learn. You will gain qualifications, which are recognised worldwide as well as a vast range of job-specific skills.

As an apprentice you will:

  • work alongside experienced staff
  • gain skills specific to your job
  • earn a wage and receive holiday pay
  • study towards a qualification either at college or a training centre for at least one day a week.

IS A modern APPRENTICESHIP RIGHT FOR YOU?

  • aged 16 and over
  • living in Scotland
  • not in full-time education - you can apply whilst you are still at school but you will need to have left before starting your apprenticeship
  • you will need to have an employer before you start an apprenticeship. BESA Training will try to help those of you who don’t have an employer placement.

Congratulations on completing your modern apprenticeship. As a qualified Domestic Natural Gas Installation & Maintenance Engineer, you will be able to pursue your career in the Building Services industry.
