JOB ROLE/DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to train apprentices in the Refrigeration or Air Conditioning sector of the Mechanical Services Industry. It is designed for apprentices to work towards SVQ Level 3.
During the course apprentices will achieve their F-Gas 2079. Individual learning outcomes will be credited as they are achieved. The course will be delivered as block release.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Apprentices must be an employee of a company in the Refrigeration or Air Conditioning industry as site training and assessment are required as part of the course. Site generated evidence is a prerequisite for achievement of the SVQ Level 3.

WHAT WILL THE COURSE COVER?

  • Installation and Maintenance of:

             - Commercial refrigeration display equipment

             - Commercial cold room

             - Air conditioning systems

  • Commission and de-commission of refrigeration or air conditioning systems
  • F Gas (Category 1)
  • Carry out safe electrical working practices
  • Working principles, installation options and regulatory requirements for micro-renewable products
  • Contribute to the improvement of the business product and services for HVACR activities.

WHAT IS A MODERN APPRENTICESHIP?

A modern apprenticeship is a real job with training, enabling you to earn whilst you learn. You will gain qualifications, which are recognised worldwide as well as a vast range of job-specific skills.

As an apprentice you will:

  • work alongside experienced staff
  • gain skills specific to your job
  • earn a wage and receive holiday pay
  • study towards a qualification either at college or a training centre for at least one day a week.

IS A MODERN APPRENTICESHIP RIGHT FOR YOU?

  • aged 16 and over
  • living in Scotland
  • not in full-time education - you can apply whilst you are still at school but you will need to have left before starting your apprenticeship
  • you will need to have an employer before you start an apprenticeship. BESA Training will try to help those of you who don’t have an employer placement.

QUALIFICATIONS ON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION

  • F Gas (Category 1)
  • As an integral part of the course, candidates receive training to prepare them to complete an additional professional competency course in Brazing. This course incurs an assessment only cost to the employer, invoiced by the college a the time of delivery.
