A significant step forward in energy storage has been revealed in the form of technology that differs from conventional batteries by storing energy in a liquid.
The patented technology from redT stores energy as a liquid using Vandium Redox Flow Battery (VRFB) technology as opposed to a solid-state cell as in conventional batteries.
The 1.68MHh VRFB energy storage system is currently being installed on the Isle of Gigha, a remote island off the west coast of Kintyre in Scotland. The MWh scale vanadium battery system will be used to provide energy storage for the island’s wind farm.
