The Competence Assessment Standard

The BESA Competence Assessment Standard provides independent assessment of our members’ technical competence and commercial capability.

WHAT IS IT AND WHY ARE MEMBERS AUDITED?

Building safety has never been more important. An essential part of being able to ensure our built environment is safe for all communities is to ensure they are designed, built, and maintained to the correct standards by competent and compliant firms. As the trade association for the mechanical building engineering services sector, we represent firms committed to building safely.

Members of BESA must meet industry compliance, regulatory, legal, and technical requirements through assessment of their competence.  This guarantees clients' peace of mind that contractors delivering their projects are technically competent, have a skilled workforce and deliver high-quality services.

Through a simple but rigorous process, BESA validates all members by scrutinising business management capability, workforce competence and technical compliance.

Successful completion of BESA’s Competence Assessment Standard is mandatory for membership and ensures that as a BESA member you can demonstrate that you work to the highest standards.
