BESA members urged to board the fast track

There is no bigger project on the horizon than the proposed fast rail link HS2, which is due to begin construction next year.

In fact, the government describes it as “the most ambitious infrastructure project in Europe” designed to provide a high speed network linking eight of the country’s largest cities - and it wants specialist contractors like BESA members to help them build it.

This massive project, which is due for completion in 2025 (reaching Birmingham the following year and with passengers finally boarding the first London to Manchester service on 17 June 2033), offers multiple business opportunities for skilled, specialist contractors and BESA members have a chance to be in the vanguard.

The HS2 construction company (HS2 Ltd) is hosting 11 roadshow events across the UK to encourage support from specialist suppliers and brief firms on the type of work involved.

There will be a series of presentations, face-to-face meetings with HS2 experts and networking opportunities at each of the events, which start on May 10 in Liverpool and then run at regular intervals in different regions before ending up in Aberdeen in September.

Each roadshow is an opportunity to find out about the scale and timing of contracts and what your business needs to do to get ready to bid.

Anyone attending a roadshow will be able to meet the HS2 teams and industry partners responsible for Supply Chain, Health and Safety, Community Relations, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Skills, Employment and Education and Environment.
