Bruce Kirton, chief executive of Welplan – principal commercial subsidiary of the Building Engineering Services Association – has completed 25 years’ service with the company.
In marking this milestone, Welplan director and association past president John Miller recalled that Mr Kirton joined the company in March 1991 as deputy general manager and was promoted to his present position in 1999.
“As a loyal, hard-working, innovative and forward-thinking member of the team, Bruce was the obvious candidate for the chief executive role when it became vacant,” said Mr Miller.
“Since then, he has been instrumental in establishing a wide range of products, including: the BESA Unique contractor liability scheme; Refcom f-gas certification; Welplan Pensions Master Trust; and, most recently, the SFG20 web-based compliance and modelling tool.”
Mr Miller added that Bruce Kirton continued to play a high-level role within the BESA, having recently been appointed group commercial and innovation director in addition to his Welplan responsibilities.
Commenting on the past quarter-century, Mr Kirton said, “It is a privilege to have been granted the trust and freedom to develop these ideas through to commercial success – although none would have been possible without the energy and enthusiasm of the first-class teams at our offices in Penrith.”
