Exceptional Training Allowance Funding for Welsh Apprentices during Covid-19

Where learners are made redundant as a result of Covid-19, the expectation is that they should seek to claim Universal Credit (UC).  Where this is not possible i.e. because the learner is aged under 19 and doesn’t meet the specific eligibility criteria, it is expected that providers will support the learners with a Training Allowance of £50 p/w.  Providers are required to ensure that the learner remains engaged with the apprenticeship and undertakes on-line learning.

To apply for the support, please submit Form A (Provider application for Exceptional Training Allowance during Covid-19) and a copy of the letter from the learner’s previous employer (to confirm the reason for requesting support) to the askWBL@gov.wales mailbox.   Payments for approved Covid-19 ETA will be made on a quarterly basis following receipt of Form B.  The timescale for submitting the Form B is given below.

For Covid-19 ETA applications that are approved, payment will be made on receipt of a completed Form B (Provider declaration for Exceptional Training Allowance Funding during Covid-19).  A copy of Form A and B are attached.
