BESA Training

As the training arm of the Building Engineering Services Association, BESA Training facilitates and delivers apprenticeships, certification, accredited and aligned training for the building engineering services sector across the UK.

With over 25 years experience, BESA Training is an established training provider and recruitment specialist for the building services engineering sector. We provide a range of building services apprenticeships, as well as short courses to suit all levels, from site worker to director.

Building Services Engineering and Project management

Engineers are the people who design, create, and, maintain a comfortable, energy efficient and safe environment within industrial or commercial buildings. 

Types of buildings are diverse – airports, shopping complex, hospitals, restaurants, office buildings, entertainment venues etc. 

Each project is different and unique, and, meets environmental requirements, an initial meeting with a client to identify individual requirements, systems are then designed via CAD, labour, materials, health and safety, planning programme etc. are all part of the job. 

The jobs/site can be nationwide therefore travelling is involved, good interpersonal skills are required, there is great satisfaction upon completion of a job when the building is ready for use. 

The work is varied and you will be working all over the United Kingdom.

Heating & ventilation - Installation, Service & Maintenance, Ductwork

Installer

Works under supervision within industrial and commercial buildings, installing a wide range of systems e.g. hot and cold water, hot water heating, fire protection etc.  An installer will install miles of pipework, and are specialists in large and industrial commercial boilers.

Craftsperson

In addition to the above, completes and oversees the above systems, de-commission, and, pre-commission of systems. In addition oversees and completes the installation, fabrication, welding and specialist jointing of industrial and commercial H & V pipework systems.  The work is varied, and, you will be working all over the United Kingdom.

Plumbing

A plumber will install and maintenance a variety of systems e.g. hot and cold water, sanitation, drainage, rainwater systems, central heating systems etc. 

This work will be carried in industrial and commercial buildings e.g. hotels, student accommodation, hospital accommodation, housing projects etc. 

To undertake this kind of work a wide range of knowledge is required, and, work can be carried out in occupied, and, unoccupied premises. 

Work has to be planned in occupied premises to ensure minimum disruption for the client.  Whilst carrying out work on gas systems specific training and qualifications, are undertaken to ensure all health and safety requirements are met.

The work is varied and you will be working all over the United Kingdom.

Domestic heating

A domestic heating engineer will install and maintain central heating systems, hot and cold water services, which every building requires in industrial and commercial buildings, or domestic properties. 

Designing and installing specific heating systems within a building involves an engineer in all aspects selecting right type of boiler, advising on controls, sizing radiators, and, correct installation of pipework. 

Whilst carrying out work on gas systems specific training and qualifications are undertaken to ensure all health and safety requirements are met. 

To undertake this kind of work a wide range of knowledge is required, and, work can be carried out in occupied and unoccupied premises.

The work is varied and you will be working all over the United Kingdom.

Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heat Pumps

The role of the air conditioning engineer is to install, repair and maintain air conditioning systems in industrial and commercial buildings. 

An engineer will install, assemble, fit and test, commission and de-commission air condition and heat pump systems.  Engineers can work in large shopping complexes, hospitals, laboratories, commercial buildings etc.

Engineers require a wide range of knowledge and develop specialist skills, as well as having a solid understanding of electrics. 

The work is varied, and, nationwide, and, work is often carried out in occupied premises which means minimum disruption for the client. 

The work is varied and you will be working all over the United Kingdom.

Electrical installation & Maintenance

Electricians are responsible for the safe installation, and, maintenance of all electrical systems within industrial and commercial buildings. 

A wide range of knowledge and skills are required for the installation of cabling, electrically powered equipment, lights, fire and security alarms etc. 

The work is varied and may involve working in occupied and unoccupied premises, a large majority of the work is undertaken in new build. 

All work has to be carefully planned, to ensure work is carried out with minimum disruption to other trades on the site. 

There are two different areas an electrician would work in the installation of all systems, and, the maintenance of the systems within a particular building.

The work is varied, and, you will be working all over the United Kingdom.
